RAHWAY — During the recent holiday break, Rahway High School Track Team members won at three events, the Spiked Shoe Invitational at New York Armory on Dec. 23, the Marine Corps Holiday Relay held on Dec. 27, also at the New York Armory, and the Holiday Relay Carnival on Dec. 30 at the Jersey City Armory.

James Madison High School Wins Benedictine Academy’s Christmas Tournament

UNION COUNTY – The winner of the UC STEP Civic Engagement challenge was recently announced by Union County Freeholder Chairman Christopher Hudak at Union County’s 157th reorganization meeting. Group Lavender won the challenge with over 1800 votes from students, teachers, parents and community members with their “Support 4 Soldiers” campaign.

Writer’s Block: Little Women, Jersey Style


When I was a young girl, my favorite book was “Little Women”, a story about four sisters growing up poor in New England around the time of the Civil War. They were encouraged by their mother to be independent, resilient and career-minded. Back then I never realized that Louisa May Alcott was so far ahead of her time or how relevant her story would be in 2014.
