MADISON— Rahway resident Auston Gabriel, a sophomore at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s College at Florham in Madison, spent eight days in New Orleans, as part of FDU’s Alternative Break service project program. At FDU, he is enrolled in the biology program.

MADISON—Elizabeth resident Olga Fridman, a sophmore at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s College at Florham in Madison, spent eight days in Arizona, where she worked with children of the Navajo Nation as part of FDU’s Alternative Break service project program. At FDU, Fridman is enrolled in the finance program.
RAHWAY—Urayoan Garcia, a junior at Rahway High School, was recently named to the second team for NJ Wrestling All-Area and All-Prep individual honors, also wrestled at the New Jersey State Competition.
RAHWAY—The students in Dyan McMillen’s second grade class at Roosevelt School in Rahway learned the basics of PowerPoint. They shared their presentations with each other in the class.
EDISON—Students in the Mechanical Engineering Technology and Civil Construction Engineering Technology programs at Middlesex County College toured the construction site of the new Crabiel Hall on campus April 1.
RAHWAY — Rahway High School Band member Nafis Harris recently auditioned for and been named to the Region II Jazz Band which will perform in Montgomery later this month.
TRENTON—Nearly 93 percent of New Jersey’s school districts expect to lay off staff – with the large majority of those districts looking at teaching staff reductions – due to state aid cuts in the coming school year, according to a survey by the New Jersey School Boards Association.
RAHWAY—Students from Susan Bechelli’s class at Grover Cleveland School visited Riverton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and dyed eggs with the residents. They shared conversation, snacks and a visit from the Easter Bunny.
COLONIA—Members of the NJ STARS League at Middlesex County College assisted at the Eighth Annual Easter Parade and Egg Hunt March 27 to benefit a Colonia family who had fallen on hard times.
