RAHWAY — Rahway Middle School students in Mrs. Tombs’ science classes practiced science safety. The eighth graders were introduced to the procedures of utilizing different lab equipment.
ELIZABETH–Five Benedictine Academy students were honored recently as “Students in Action”, for “taking their initiative beyond the ordinary”. Emilie Burke of Colonia, Martha Devia of Elizabeth, Chisom Emeana of Hillside, Andrea Mendoza of Union, and Ariana Taveras of Newark, were recognized at an awards ceremony held at the Academy on Feb. 11.
EDISON — Wardlaw-Hartridge Upper School teacher Gayle Frederick’s French IV students demonstrated the “Rousseauiste” method of teaching CPR versus modern methods.
LINDEN — While temperatures plummet outside, Linden high school students inside have warmed up their voices, instruments and those dancing feet through countless rehearsals.
CRANFORD – On Wednesday, Feb. 23, in observation of Black History Month, Union County College will present the annual Douglass Lincoln Lecture. This year’s lecture will be given by renowned author, James T. Patterson.
TRENTON – Legislation to bar those convicted of crimes from serving on school boards and requiring board members to undergo criminal checks received final legislative approval on Thursday.
CLARK — First grade students at St. Agnes School in Clark recently celebrated the 100th day of school. A tradition carried out by first grade teacher Helen Shaffer, children made posters of 100 special items, did 100 jumping jacks and learned to count to 100 many different ways.
RAHWAY — In honor of Black History month, Mrs. Faver’s class at Roosevelt School in Rahway learned about Rosa Parks. Parks sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott when she refused to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery, Ala.
TEANECK– Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Metropolitan Campus, located in Teaneck and Hackensack, has announced the names of students who qualified for the Dean’s List for the Fall 2010 Semester.
CLARK – Students at Frank K. Hehnly Elementary School in Clark enjoyed a PTA-sponsored Senior Sweetheart Tea. Every child was allowed to invite one grandparent or relative to enjoy an afternoon of snacks, crafts and Bingo.
