ROSELLE — In honor of Black History Month, students at Charles C. Polk School in Roselle decorated classroom doors around the school in the colors of traditional African-American colleges.

BALTIMORE, Md. — Porscha Haynes, a member of the class of 2011 from Elizabeth, has been named to the fall 2010 Dean’s List at Loyola University Maryland.
RAHWAY — Jamari Servance, a third grader at Franklin Elementary School in Rahway, was chosen by the third grade teachers to carry the title of Principal for the Day on Feb. 28.
LIVINGSTON – An Elizabeth girl earned recognition in the Saint Barnabas Burn Foundation 22nd Annual Burn Awareness Poster Contest. This year’s contest, created to teach youngsters the importance of fire safety and burn prevention, focused on the importance of smoke detectors.
UNION – The Kean University Players on Tour will present “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” from March 30 to April 3 at the University Center Little Theatre in Union. Following the on-campus run, the troupe will bring their production to schools in the region, including Arthur L. Johnson High School in Clark.
PLAINFIELD — Union County College will be hosting an Allied Health and Practical Nursing Open House for students who are interested in learning more about these programs and beginning to study this fall.
EDISON — Shruti Nadkarni of Edison, a junior at The Wardlaw-Hartridge School in Edison, has been honored for her exemplary volunteer service with a President’s Volunteer Service Award.
RAHWAY – Students in Mrs. Campesi’s class at Franklin School in Rahway read about penguins during their reading lesson, then spent time in the computer lab researching and recording new facts about penguins.
