METUCHEN — Each year, the Library of Congress’s Center for the Book sponsors a contest called Letters for Literature. Students are asked to write letters to the author of a favorite book, telling why this book inspired them.
METUCHEN — On Friday, April 13, state Sen. Barbara Buono visited Metuchen’s Campbell School to address all fourth grade students and to present the winner of her essay contest with a certificate and gift card.
METUCHEN — On April 12, Holocaust survivor Sally Frishberg visited Edgar Middle School. Frishberg has been coming to Metuchen for 19 years to share her story of courage and survival, in a way that is uplifting and enlightening.
PISCATAWAY — More than 250 members of the Advisory Committees of the Middlesex County Vocational and Technical Schools and Adult Technical Schools will gather at 6 p.m. April 25 on the Piscataway Campus for the annual Advisory Committee dinner and meeting.
EAST BRUNSWICK — Two dance students from the East Brunswick Campus of the Middlesex County Vocational and Technical Schools are participating in a highly selective program at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in Manhattan.
ELIZABETH – The Elizabeth Public Schools will hold an Excellence Parade on Saturday, April 21, at 11 a.m. Students from the district’s thirty-three schools will participate in the parade and be represented in various cheering sections throughout the parade route.
EDISON — Students in the Garde Manger class at Middlesex County College recently displayed their artistic side as they learned the fundamentals of ice carving. In this course, taught by Chef Walter Leffler, the students used chain saws to mold blocks of ice and then chisels to create the details.
