WESTFIELD — Over 100 kids and adults attended the Westfield Area Y’s “Lunch with Santa” event on Sunday, Dec. 8 at the Main Y Facility in Westfield. Families enjoyed pizza and sandwiches while listening to Christmas music and of course visiting with Santa and sharing their Christmas wish list with him.
WESTFIELD – A 50-year-old township woman who is one of the owners of the Wychwood Gatehouse allegedly bit and kicked police officers Friday evening when they prevented her from going towards the burning building, according to a Westfield Patch report.

Park announced today that a new DNA analyst has been hired to work at the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Forensics Laboratory in Westfield under a shared-services agreement reached between the Middlesex and Union county boards of chosen freeholders.

UNION COUNTY — Libraries are inviting their patrons to help check out hunger this holiday season with donations to a food drive. From Nov. 25 – Dec. 16, Union County Public Libraries will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items to benefit the New Jersey Community Food Bank and other local food pantries.
WESTFIELD — The Westfield Area Y Achievers Program for high school students is collecting toys for all ages in collaboration with Young Men of Resilience for the Ozanam Family Shelter in Edison and Beth Israel Medical Center. Donations of gift wrap, gift bags and tape are welcome and can be placed in the blue container by the Main Y front door marked “Achievers Service Project” until Dec. 11. Gifts should be wrapped and marked with tags indicating gender and age range.
WESTFIELD — The Coffee With Conscience Concert Series continues its 14th season with a special holiday concert event benefiting super storm Sandy relief. The family friendly concert will take place on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Westfield, 1 East Broad Street in Westfield. Doors will open at 2:30 PM.
