Police To Crack Down On Drunk Driving This Weekend

Beginning Aug. 21 and running through Sept. 7, a total of 236 local and county law enforcement agencies, as well as the New Jersey State Police, will be cracking down on drivers operating their vehicles and motorcycles while intoxicated.

Hands-On Green Learning In Store For Union County Students

SCOTCH PLAINS – Middle school students throughout Union County may learn about sustainability this fall by building their own wind turbines and cooking with solar energy. The hands-on activities took place during a “Green Boot Camp” for middle school teachers. The camp was developed through a partnership between Honeywell and Union County Vocational-Technical Schools, to help middle school teachers learn about the latest green education tools.

Adult High School Offers Second Chances

SCOTCH PLAINS – It began in 1995 as a summer program with 35 enrollees, and fourteen years later the Union County Vo-Tech Adult High School has blossomed into a full academic and vocational course that provides more than 500 students yearly with a second chance to finish their high school education. At a ceremony on the Vo-Tech campus this morning, 150 members of the 14th graduating class received their diplomas.

Kean Students Graduate With Honors

UNION – Kean University held commencement ceremonies for its graduate and undergraduate students in May. Among the degree recipients were more than 600 students who graduated with honors, the largest group in the university’s history to graduate with distinction.
