Learning To Resist Drugs & Alcohol

LINDEN – Students at School No. 6 recently graduated from DARE — Drug Abuse Resistance Education. The program is provided by the Linden Police Department and gives students the tools to resist peer pressure and to say “no” to drugs and alcohol.

RAHWAY—The Bard made an appearance in a fifth grade class at Grover Cleveland School. Students compared lyrics of current hip-hop songs with monologues from some of William Shakespeare’s plays and discovered the same universal themes.

Blizzard Warning In Effect

STATE — Road crews are working to clear New Jersey highways and major roadways, but the worst of this winter storm may not have come yet.

The National Weather Service has a blizzard warning in effect for the state. High winds — with gusts of up to 45 miles per hour — are expected this afternoon. Possible whiteout conditions will make travel dangerous, and officials are advising residents to stay at home if possible.

Rescue Group Rehabilitates Injured Dog

ELIZABETH — Two years ago, All-Star Pet Rescue of Linden learned about a Rottweiler dog with a mangled leg that had been seen in Elizabeth. Although rescue workers made several attempts to find the dog and bring him in, they were never able to capture the Rottweiler.
