COLUMBIA, S.C.—Army Pvt. Joseph C. Ridings has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
EDISON — The Middlesex County Guidance Council granted its Caring Award to Charles Pivnichny of Plainfield, a senior at The Wardlaw-Hartridge School in North Edison, during its 23rd Annual Recognition Program on the evening of April 29 at Middlesex County College.
LAWTON, Okla.—Army Pfc. Robert O. Wellington has graduated from the Basic Field Artillery Cannon Crewmember Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.
RAHWAY—Becky the farmer came to Roosevelt School in Rahway to deliver eggs to all kindergarten class. The farmer introduced a hen and rooster to the class and explained the process of using an incubator to hatch the eggs.

UNION – Sophomore Ryan Gibbons broke a seven all tie in the bottom of the eighth with an RBI double as Kean University defeated visiting Richard Stockton College, 8-7, Tuesday afternoon in NJAC Tournament action.
MAHWAH – Junior first baseman Katie Yard singled home senior Allison Thibault with the game-winning run in the top of the eighth inning, as the Kean University softball team defeated Ramapo College, 2-1, to open the New Jersey Athletic Confernece tournament on Tuesday afternoon.
ELIZABETH — St. Mary of the Assumption High School will hold its fifth annual golf classic on Monday, June 7, at the newly enhanced Glenwood County Club in Old Bridge.
PLAINFIELD – On May 8, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., a celebration of Cinco De Mayo will be held at Union County College’s Plainfield campus. The campus is located at 232 E. Second Street and the celebration will be held in the parking lot.
SPRINGFIELD – The AAA New Jersey Automobile Club and New Jersey Blood Services (NJBS) will host a blood drive at AAA’s Springfield office, located at 135 Route 22 East, on Friday, May 7 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
