NJ Doctor Pleads Guilty In Cash-For-Patients Scheme

NEWARK– Dinesh Patel, a New Jersey doctor practicing in Newark, pleaded guilty today to participating in a cash-for-patients scheme with a diagnostic facility in Orange and agreed to pay back thousands of dollars in bribe money he received in the past two years, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced.

NJ’s August Revenue Collections Fall Short Of Projections

TRENTON – While the state treasurer trumpeted August revenue figures that were higher than those realized in 2011, they still weren’t good enough to meet budget projections. Two months into fiscal year 2013, New Jersey’s revenues are 4.9 percent under budget leaving the state nearly $100 million short according to figures releases yesterday.

Romney says 47 percent of Americans don’t pay income taxes. That’s literally true, except it’s misleading because it includes every retiree who hasn’t enough income to pay income taxes (most retirees), every poor and lower-income person who doesn’t have enough income to pay, and a few multi-millionaires (perhaps like Romney himself — we don’t know because he won’t release his tax returns), who don’t pay because of tax loopholes and tax-avoidance schemes.
