Summer Theater Program To Perform Grease

CRANFORD—For over 25 years, Community Actors Student Theatre (C.A.S.T.) has held its summer programs at the David Brearley High School in Kenilworth. So when board member/producer/director Karyn Mack of the community-based program for students heard that the Kenilworth school was not available this summer, a moment of panic ensued.

A gun-toting Crips gang member with past criminal convictions on charges that include aggravated assault, robbery, and unlawful possession of a handgun was allowed to walk away by Elizabeth police after he misrepresented himself as a law enforcement officer by showing them a handgun strapped to his ankle.

Foundation Supports Youth For Unity Programs

TRENTON—Recognizing the need for youth to embrace different cultures, The Allstate Foundation in New Jersey is continuing its partnership with Boys and Girls Clubs in New Jersey – through a 2009 grant for $35,000 – to promote tolerance, diversity and inclusion in Newark, Trenton and Perth Amboy.
