Uriel Adames-Gomez, 29, was charged with murder after he dialed 911 shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2020, and reported that he stabbed his brother, Gabriel Adames-Gomez, 26.
Upon their arrival, Rutherford Police located the suspect in front of 346 Union Avenue, Rutherford, and placed him in custody.
Uriel Adames-Gomez told borough police that “he had stabbed and killed his brother,” Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.
The officers observed a large kitchen knife on the floor near the vitcim’s body along with a pool of blood nearby.
Rutherford Police secured the crime scene and notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Bergen County Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Investigations Unit.
An investigation revealed that Uriel stabbed Gabriel multiple times during a domestic violence incident.
The Daily Voice reported that “Gabriel Adames-Gomez apparently was sitting in a recliner when his brother repeatedly stabbed him in the chest and neck with the 7-inch blade…”
“The assault continued, with the victim stabbed over and again, in what the accused killer claimed was an attempt to ‘remove demons’ from inside his brother,” according to the Daily Voice.
The suspect was taken to Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus in police custody for treatment of cuts on his body.
