Prosecutors said Samuel A. Zarzuela, 20, of Paterson, was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide related to a September 27 shooting in Perth Amboy.
Zarzuela and another man, 19-year-old Alberto Rosario-DeJesus, were observed inside a white Honda Accord with Texas registration that was improperly parked near a stop sign on Redwood Avenue in Paterson at around 2:50 a.m.
When officers approached the vehicle and spoke to Zarzuela, the driver, they detected strong marijuana odor emanating from the vehicle, according to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik.
Officers searching the vehicle seized a Kel-Tec PF-9 9mm handgun loaded with three rounds, $4,291 cash, a plastic vial containing marijuana, a digital scale, and several small clear plastic bags.
Zarzuela was arrested on two active warrants, one out of Passaic County for unlawful possession of a weapon and the other for attempted homicide in Perth Amboy.
