An amazing 73% of Republicans, believe the Mueller report exonerates President Donald Trump.
That follows a two-year investigation that exposed 144 contacts between GOP campaign officials and Russians plus at least ten substantial instances where obstruction of justice charges would have been leveled against anyone except the current White House occupant.
About half of Americans want Democrats in Congress to hold hearings and further investigate the matter, but 83% of Republicans think the investigation should end.
About one-third of registered voters (33%) say they will definitely vote for President Trump in his re-election bid, and very little is likely to change that but it is fairly frightening that so many Americans are willing to close their eyes to overt criminality and lies.
Once, Republicans claimed a committment to uphold the limited power of government enshrined in the Constitution but nmow, they are equally willing to give up such protections in order to assert their will on the nation.
What about Hillary? If Hillary Clinton has won the election and lied five or ten times every day, sought to interfere with a criminal and counter-intelligence probe, acted in ways contrary to logic, decorum and the general welfare, then Democrats would be screaming for her head.
Nobody is above the law in this nation, but Fox News, Twitter and the GOP Senate are equally complicit in Trump’s cover ups.
Creating a false narrative has become a replacement for legitimate debate.
