Hurricane Michael has developed into a Category 1 storm as parts of Florida prepare for its anticipated arrival this week.
“Michael is forecast to become a major hurricane by Tuesday or Tuesday night,” said the National Hurricane Center in its 11 a.m. advisory, which predicted the storm would make landfall this week.
Despite the major hurricane expected to make landfall on Wednesday in the Florida Panhandle, President Donald Trump plans to visit Orlando today, tying up traffic as residents prepare for rough weather.
Trump is planning to talk about law and order with the International Association of Chiefs of Police at the Orange County Convention Center.
The New York Times is reporting that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is traveling on Air Force One with the president.
Motorists in Orange County are being warned to expect road closures and delays between the airport and the convention center as the presidential contingent arrives around 1:05 p.m. and leaves at about 2:45 p.m.
