Trump doubles down on family separation policy

President Trump on Monday doubled down on his controversial policy of separating children from parents when families crossing the border to seek asylum, while also calling on Congress to change laws to end it.

In a series of tweets, Trump appeared to justify the practice by claiming criminals are using children in a Trojan Horse-style operation to cross the U.S. border.

Trump also falsely blamed Democrats for the action, which has been called ‘child abuse’ by some experts and ‘inhumane’ by observers who have seen conditions in detention¬†centers where immigrant children are being held in cages, without blankets or basic care.
