Former Girl Scout leader dies

Gertrude F. (Hicinbothem) Baldwin, 91, of Pennsville, a former Linden resident, died on Friday, January 12, 2018.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service in the

Gertrude Baldwin was a volunteer at the United Methodist Church of Linden.

United Methodist Church of Linden, 321 North Wood Avenue, Linden, on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 10 AM.  Interment will follow at Rosedale Memorial Park.

Visiting hours are in the Werson Funeral Home, 635 North Wood Avenue, Linden, on Monday, January 15, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.

Gertrude was born in the Bronx, NY, and has lived in Linden for many years before moving to Pennsville in 2017. She was employed as a registered nurse for many years retiring in the 1980’s.

Gertrude was a member of the United Methodist Church of Linden, President of Washington Rock Girl Scout Council, and was very active in Girl Scouts as a leader and organizer.

She was also President of the Linden Garden Club, and President of the Womans’ Society, was on the Board of Trustees, and Flower Committee Chairman. The church was her life. Gertrude was predeceased by her beloved husband, Walter H. Baldwin Sr. in 1976, her sister, Alice Zahorbenski, and her brother, Walter A. Hicinbothem, Jr.

Gertrude is survived by her daughter, Nancy Jane Baldwin, her son, Walter H. Baldwin, Jr. and his wife Susan Archer, 3 grandsons, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations to Vitas Hospice Charity Fund, 5420 Northwest 33rd Avenue, Suite 100, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. 33309, (or go to in her memory would be appreciated.
