Gov.-elect Phil Murphy nominated Assemblywoman Marlene Caride, a three-term lawmaker from Bergen County with no experience in banking or insurance, to head the state Department of Banking and Insurance.
A Ridgefield resident and the daughter of Cuban immigrants, Caride earned a B.A. in Education from Fairleigh Dickinson University before graduating from California Western School of Law.
She has political connections that won her appointments to legal contracts in South Hackensack, West New York and Ridgefield.
She is a partner in Gonzalez & Caride, a law firm located in Union City.
