A husband shot his wife and her lover dead after he caught them having sex in their family home in Colombia, while the couple’s three children slept in the next room.
The woman Sandra Castellanos, 39, and her boyfriend Noe Gomez, 35, were allegedly murdered by her husband, a security guard who pretended to go to work and then killed the lovers when he caught the pair having sex.
Police say Juan Carlos Garcia, 42, admitted to killing his wife and her boyfriend at their family home in Atlantico, a city located in northern Colombia near the Caribbean sea.
Garcia suspected his wife was having an affair while he was working night shifts and planned a trap to “catch her with her hands in the dough”, according to police.
The couple’s three children were sleeping in the house when Garcia allegedly pulled a handgun on the couple, shortly after 9 pm on August 4.
The security guard was alerted to the couple’s secret tryst by neighbors, so he pretended to go to work so he could catch Castellanos and Gomez in the act.
Garcia stayed at a friends house and called Castellanos at around 9 pm, purportedly to check on the children. Moments after his wife told him the children went to bed early because they had school the next day, the jealous husband burst into the family home, catching the naked lovers in the act.
He was arrested in what police called a “horrific crime of passion” the Villa Maria area of Soledad.
Although Garcia turned himself in and confessed to his crimes, police say he showed no remorse for the crime.
Garcia reportedly told police, “She was unfaithful and sullied my honor as a man. All I did was remove the woman who destroyed my life in this world.”
A police report said: “At 9.05pm Juan Carlos Garcia called his wife to ask about his three children, she answered the call and told him that they had gone to bed early because they had to leave for school.
“The suspect Juan Carlos Garcia found his wife making love with her lover. The husband was filled with anger and killed them both,” the report said. “He handed himself in to police and said that he did not feel sorry for what he had done.”
Police said Garcia had been remanded in custody and would face court hearings at a later date. They said the three children would attend their mother’s funeral and be cared for by relatives.
