Comcast reporting service failures

Comcast is reporting service failures in parts of New Jersey that the company says should be fixed by 11 a.m.

Early risers in an undisclosed area woke to error codes on television, internet outages and no phone connections Saturday as the cable company worked on repairs.

Comcast has a monopoly on service in most areas but alternate technologies allow consumers to obtain cellular phone service, FIOS or satellite.

Details about the cause of the problem were unavailable as we went to puss with this story but there were heavy electrical storms overnight.

Loud crashes of thunder punctuated long series of lightning flashes in the skies as rain baptised the region.

It is highly likely that circuits fried or wires came down as a result of storm damage.
