Death of man in Edison under investigation

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Thomas Bryan of the Edison Police Department said authorities are investigating the death of an unidentified man who was found yesterday outside a township apartment complex near a Route 1 bridge that spans the Raritan River.

The man, whose identity is under investigation, was pronounced dead at 9:50 a.m. after he was discovered at the Valley Manor apartment complex at 6:14 a.m.

Police and firefighters were dispatched to the scene at that time after being notified of a small fire at the apartment complex.

The remains of the unidentified man were discovered when the fire was extinguished.
