“…noises in the hall…”

Hey all you cats and kittens…it’s that time of year again…time when the Rock-N-Roll Hall Of Shame once again announces their nominees for next year’s inductees…and the list goes like this…

Yes… Pearl Jam…Chaka Khan…The J. Geils Band…Steppenwolf…
Chic…Electric Light Orchestra…Joe Tex… Kraftwerk…The Cars…
Jane’s Addiction…MC5… Joan Baez… Depeche Mode… Journey…
Tupac Shakur…Janet Jackson… Bad Brains…The Zombies…

Now…we all know that The Hall has become a bigger joke than the Grammys these days and with good reason…The politics behind the inductees makes the hall null and void, along with the obvious fact that it is still called ‘THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME’ and yet so many of the artists mentioned here, as well as already inducted, are not rock and roll at all…

Somebody really needs to build a REAL rock hall of fame…start from scratch and do not let personal views and agendas get in the way…Otherwise, why isn’t YES already in the hall…These guys were the grand masters of progressive music…They should have been in years ago…and they better make it this year or don’t even bother opening the doors anymore…The stank will ruin the neighborhood…

I’m glad to see MC5 nominated…They were pioneers and a great influence on so many other bands…Also Kraftwerk…These guys dominated what was referred to as ‘krautrock’ in their day…

Personally, I’m also glad to see Chaka Khan nominated again…and The J. Geils band…and, for their first eligible year, Pearl Jam (always loved Eddie Vedder)…and Steppenwolf, if for nothing else, the seminal 60’s rock classic ‘Born To Be Wild’…

This is a fairly weak line-up this year, and though there are a few who peak my interest here, except for the band YES, there truly is no other artist or group that I would call UNQUESTIONABLE this time around…

But this is The Hall Of Shame we are talking about, so we will just have to wait and see…
