At least eight women have come forward to accuse Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump of unwanted groping, kissing or other forms of sexual misconduct.
Trump made lewd remarks about women recorded in 2005 during a conversation with Access Hollywood host Billy Bush. In comments broadcast nationally last week, the billionaire businessman boasted about grabbing women, kissing them without consent and watching beauty pageant contestants in their dressing rooms.
Anderson Cooper, moderator of the presidential debate, pointedly asked Trump about saying of women that he could “grab them by the pussy.” Downplaying his remarks as “locker room talk,” Trump denied ever kissing or groping women without consent.
“No one has more respect for women than I do,” Trump said.
Jessica Leeds, a 74-year-old Manhattan resident, told The New York Times that Trump inappropriately touched her during a 1980 flight from Connecticut to New York.
Temple Taggart, a former Miss USA contestant from Utah alleged that Trump kissed her on the lips when she was a 21-year-old in the 1997 pageant in Shreveport, La. “I remember feeling kind of embarrassed, like wanting to turn and wipe my mouth, like, ‘What just happened?'” she said.
“It was at that time that he turned to me and embraced me and gave me a kiss on the lips,” McDowell said.
A 36-year-old resident of Palm Springs, Florida, Mindy McGillivray, told the Palm Beach Post that Trump groped her 13 years ago when she was assisting a photographer hired to work a concert at the Mar-a-Lago Club.
Eleven years ago, Bayrock Group receptionist Rachel Crooks claims Trump kissed her on her cheeks and then on the mouth outside a elevator in the building where they both worked.
People magazine writer Natasha Stoynoff claims the-presidential candidate pushed her against a wall, started “forcing his tongue” down her throat, and physically attacked her during an assignment to cover Trump’s one-year wedding anniversary to his wife, Melania.
An anonymous woman told CNN anchor Erin Burnett that in 2010, Trump kissed her in a Trump Tower boardroom, then invited her into his office alone and gave her his cell phone number. Another man who was in the room confirms the alleged 2010 exchange between Trump and the woman occurred.
That unidentified accuser is a friend of Burnett that the journalist has known for years. She recounted her experience with Trump after it echoed his words in the tape that surfaced Friday.
As these allegations grow in number, much as the number of women who accused Bill Cosby mushroomed once his behavior became the subject of a media firestorm, the fallout is taking a toll on the GOP campaign. A civil lawsuit remains active in which a woman accused Trump of ‘forcibly raping’ her when she was 13-year-old in the summer of 1994.
A judge has ordered lawyers for Trump to appear for a pre-trial conference in December. Financier Jeffrey Epstein is also accused of raping the girl in the lawsuit, but a former employee of Epstein’s is supporting the alleged victim’s version of events in a signed declaration.
A number of top Republican Party officials have stepped back their support for Trump since he boasted about sexually assaulting women.
