Route 440 bridge deck replacement completed

New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials said the opening of the ramp from Route 440 to Pfeiffer Boulevard/Route 184 in Perth Amboy marks the completion of the bridge replacement over Route 35.

On Monday, September 26, NJDOT contractor, Berto Construction,  opened the ramp from Route 440 to Pfeiffer Boulevard/Route 184.

This project included replacement of the concrete deck, bridge railings/parapets, and deck joints, as well as the construction of new concrete approach slabs.

Substructure repairs and bridge safety deficiencies were also addressed to meet current NJDOT standards. The closure began in May and necessitated two detours.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
