The Democratic presidential nominee sparked an uproar when she described Trump’s supporters as racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic.

“And unfortunately, there are people like that and he has lifted them up,” Clinton said. “He has given voice to their websites that used to only have 11,000 people, now have 11 million. He tweets and retweets offensive, hateful, mean-spirited rhetoric.”

Clinton’s lead over Trump has largely evaporated, according to a new CNN/ORC Poll that puts the race to November 8 on even ground, with a scant two points separating the candidates among likely voters, and the contest sparking sharp divisions along demographic lines in a new CNN/ORC Poll.

Trump leads Clinton 45% to 43% in that survey, with Libertarian Gary Johnson standing at 7% among likely voters in this poll and the Green Party’s Jill Stein at just 2%.
