Ted Cruz to visit Rahway on Thursday

Texas Tea Party Senator Ted Cruz is planning to visit donor-rich New Jersey where the Texas senator host a 4:30 p.m. press conference at the American Legion Post in Rahway on Thursday.

Rafael Edward “Ted” Cruz is the junior U.S. Senator from Texas and a candidate for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.

He is expected to announce his state leadership team headed by Steve Lonegan before heading off to a $2,700 per guest early-evening fundraiser dinner at the Shackamaxon Country Club in Scotch Plains.

Later that evening, Cruz will attend a $1,000-per-plate fundraising event at the Englewood home of Elizabeth and Avi Samuels, who recently hosted Marco Rubio, whose ailing presidential campaign fetched $100,000.

The latest polling here finds Cruz in a distant fifth place position. Cruz is a frequent critic of President Barack Obama, calling him “an unmitigated socialist” and his ideas “profoundly dangerous.”

Cruz, who was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, graduated from Princeton University in 1992, and then from Harvard Law School in 1995.

Rahway GOP leader Patrick Cassio says anyone interested in attending should sign up with the Cruz campaign at https://tedcruznj.eventbrite.com/
