EDISON – This following is from Linda Kovacs Barankovich:

Remembering the Past by Diane Norek Harrison“The Linwood Grove Ballroom was located at U.S. Highway #27 in Edison. It was owned by my father, Stephen Kovacs and his brother Julius Kovacs from the 1950s until it burned down in the late 1970s.

The establishment had two large cocktail bars and a snack bar. Teen Age Hops were held every Sunday from 1p.m to 5p.m. They catered to weddings, proms, banquets and parties. Big Band music was popular here.

Some that played here were: Harry James and His Orchestra, Xavier Cugat and His Orchestra, Sammy Kaye and His Orchestra and many others.”
