A police officer shot and killed a skunk yesterday in the Kendall Park section of South Brunswick Township, according to a homeowner.

The animal was reportedly acting in a strange manner in the Middlesex County community.
A resident said an animal control official knocked on his door to inform the family that he needed to pursue the skunk in their backyard.
Moments later, the homeowner said a police officer appeared with a gun and discharged several rounds of ammunition before strinking the animal.
Dave Kazanski, the township’s certified animal control officer, and other authorities were not available to confirm the report.
