Gallery U Boutique will host the first exhibition of 2015 by members of the Contemporary Art Group (CAG) and all are welcome to an opening reception on Friday, January 9, 2015, from 6-8 PM.
Artwork will be on exhibit through February 2, 2015. Participating artists include Virginia Carroll, Diane Gallo, Mel Holston, Maxine King, Avi Kiriakatis, Constantine Kiriakatis, Donald Kuhn, Linda Lam, Lane Lewis, Linnea W. Rhodes, Dorothy Siclare, Cecilly Sullivan, Rosalia Tignini Verdun and Cynthia Walling.
Begun as a special interest group within the Westfield Art
Association, the Contemporary Art Group re-defined “contemporary” to
mean “alive and currently producing art.”
The CAG is a collegial organization of working artists who meet on a regular basis to advance their art interests, where members share ideas, provide information about exhibit opportunities, and describe their own artistic development.
Since its start in September 2013, Gallery U Boutique has quickly positioned itself as an arts resource for the Westfield and surrounding communities by holding monthly art exhibits that focus on the talents of local artists, as well as showcasing original unique merchandise created by local artisans.
Gallery U Boutique, located at 439 South Ave West in Westfield, is owned by Universal Institute, a rehabilitation center for adults with traumatic brain injuries (TBI).
Gallery U acts as an extension of UI’s vocational training program which helps bring TBI clients back into the workforce and community through their daily operational work.
They hold monthly group art exhibitions and work closely with the community on various events throughout the year.
