RAHWAY — A 33 year old man was shot at about 2:18 a.m. Thursday on Elm Avenue in the vicinity of Bryant Street.
The victim was approached by two Hispanic men in their 20s who demanded money.
“The assailants fired two rounds,” Rahway Police Sergeant Charles Sabba said. “The victim was hit once in the shoulder.
“He was transported to University Hospital in Newark where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries,” said Sabba.
“He’s doing pretty good,” Sabba said but the victim remains hospitalized.
The gunman and his accomplice reportedly fled on foot eastbound on Elm Avenue.
Police are requesting any witnesses with information about the crime to contact them at 732-827-2200.
This is the tenth armed assault in the city this year, reflecting a 30 increase over the same period last year, according to State Police records.
