Sayreville celebrating July 4 on June 28

Sayreville will celebrate Independence Day this year on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. in John F. Kennedy Park on Washington Avenue in Parlin with a community festival and fireworks. 

The celebration will feature live entertainment, children’s games, small carnival rides, pony rides, a hot dog eating contest and a food court. 

Performing during the event will be Jo Bonanno and the Goodsons from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and the Springsteen tribute band, Tramps Like Us from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. 

The Independence Day celebration will come to a close with an extravagant small town fireworks display at about 9:30 p.m. The rain date for the fireworks in June 29, 2014.

Sayreville is not the only New Jersey community hosting an early Independence Day celebration on Saturday, June 28, 2014.

The Mercer County Freedom Festival will be held at Mercer County Park in West Windsor Township and Hillsborough will host a fireworks display at Auten Road Intermediate School. 

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra will present a concert followed by fireworks sponsored by the Essex County Parks Department at Branch Book Park in Newark at 7:30 on Friday, June 27. 

Montville Township scheduled a three day celebration for Thursday, Friday and Saturday featuring carnival rides, food vendors, live entertainment and a fireworks show on Saturday night.
