Anybody who ever owned a transistor radio knows the name Casey Kasem…

I grew up listening to the likes of people like Casey, Cousin Brucie, and Alison Steele…

Their influence, along with my in-born love of music, set the stage for me spending most of my life behind a radio microphone…

This, of course, was back in the day when AM radio was king and stations weren’t owned by ‘corporations’…

DJ’s could actually be on-air personalities, picking their own music and talking almost as long about each song as the song itself would take…

It was a time we need to capture again…unfortunately, there aren’t too many who can do it anymore…

We’ve lost knowledge in our society…we’ve lost that privilege…

…and now we’ve lost Casey Kasem…

Casey passed away this weekend…he was 82 years old…

He was also the voice of Shaggy, from the classic cartoon ‘Scooby-Doo’…

But he will be missed most for his voice on the transistor, just as his type of radio is missed, because one person’s giftings could influence so many…

Casey famous tagline when signing off at the end of every broadcast talked about keeping your feet on the ground while still reaching for the stars…

And in his life, he indeed kept reaching…
