FORDS —   On Sunday, Jan. 5, the District Eight Veterans of the Foreign Wars and its Ladies Auxiliary held their Annual Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen Essay Awards program at the VFW Post 1451 in South River. The theme of the essay contest was “What Patriotism Means To Me.” Pictured above are the winners of the essay contest from Our Lady of Peace School in Fords:  seventh grader Matthew Araujo (left), and eighth grader Stephen Parente (right).
