UNION COUNTY — On a very cold night last weekend, Playball for Miracles turned over their final donation for 2013. Organizer Erin Kelly-McGuinness presented a check for $750 to new New Jersey Fireman’s Benevolent Association President Ed Donnelly for Sandy Ground, Where Angels Play. Playball For Miracles raised the funds through Miracle Night and the “fill a boot campaign” they held during their annual tournament in May. The Sandy Ground project is an effort to create playgrounds in 26 communities ravaged by Superstorm Sandy as living memorials to the children killed in Newtown, Conn. and to all children who have been victims of violence. The 10th annual Playball for Miracles softball tournament is scheduled for May 3, and the 4th annual Miracle Night with the Somerset Patriots is planned for Aug. 20.
