ELIZABETH — There were smiles all around among nursing staff members as proud parents Maria Osario and Jorge Rivera of Roselle Park welcomed their first child, daughter Camila, at Trinitas Regional Medical Center on Jan. 1. Not only born on the first day of 2014, Camila also has the distinction of being the first newborn whose mother has decided to take part in the “Breast is Best” program at Trinitas.

Born at 5:42 pm on Wednesday, Jan. 1, Camila will benefit from her mother’s breast milk for one full year as part of this special program. Mother Maria Osario, received a breast pump donated by Medela Breastfeeding US, headquartered in McHenry, Illinois.

Baby Camila also received a collection of hand-knitted layette items donated by the South Plainfield Senior Center Knitting and Crochet Group and a basket of newborn supplies from members of the Labor and Delivery and Mother/Baby units at Trinitas.
