Remembering the Past by Diane Norek Harrisonby Diane Norek Harrison

EDISON-Some memories from Tom: “I use to sell popcorn, pretzels and jelly apples from a stand outside of the old Walgreens before there was a roof in the ‘old’ Menlo Park Mall. Nordstrom’s was Montgomery Wards and Macy’s was Bambergers at that time.”

Another reader wrote: “The supermarket in the ‘old’ Menlo Park Mall was Pathmark, not ShopRite. It was right across from Arcadian Gardens.”

WOODBRIDGE-Another reader wrote: “There was a recreational league team called the ‘Hopelawn Indians.’ The Indians were pretty good, we won the intermediate championship one year. Our chief rival was St. James of Woodbridge, we beat them only once as I recall. We had uniforms and warm-up jackets that were gold and green.”
