SOUTH RIVER — A borough man has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a child, Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Mark Tinitigan of the South River Police Department announced today.
Patrick D. Kilmer, 48, was arrested at his home on Dec. 29 and was charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. He is being held without bail at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick.
Kilmer was arrested following an investigation by Acting Detective Sergeant Robert S. Maclosky of the South River Police Department and Investigator Karleen Duca of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
During the investigation, it was determined that Kilmer improperly touched the female child while visiting the home of an acquaintance in South River on Dec. 14, authorities said.
Police subsequently learned about the assault and initiated the investigation.
The investigation is active and continuing. Authorities are asking anyone with information to call Acting Detective Sergeant Maclosky of the South River Police Department at (732) 238-1000, or Investigator Duca of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-4452.
As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Kilmer are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
