LINDEN – Fourth Ward Councilman Derek Armstead is looking for support in next year’s mayoral Democratic Primary.

On Sunday, Armstead posted this message on his Facebook page:

Dear Friends
We are at a critical crossroad in our town’s history. This crossroad represents what Linden was, what Linden is and what Linden is going to become. In 2010 with your support I won the Linden Democratic Primary and General Election for Mayor. Unfortunately hours after the election, I received a call that 300 absentee ballots were found and lost the Mayoral race by 150 votes. It’s hard to believe that almost 3 years has gone by but I never gave up. I am writing to ask for your support in the upcoming JUNE 2014 Mayoral race to represent YOU. I am a proud product of Linden’s past, present and future. My family has resided in the great city of Linden for almost 90 years and God willing my offspring will be in our beautiful city for another 100 years. However to ensure our city’s future we must restore her to her great capacity of yesterday. We need Linden to once again become a place that its citizens can happily afford to call home.
