CARTERET – Patrick DeBlasio, who has a full-time job as the borough’s chief financial officer, was hired for a sixth public job this week, according to an Asbury Park Press report.
DeBlasio will receive $40,000 as Highlands’ chief financial officer, beginning in May when the current job holder retires. He will not have to work a set number of hours or show up at the borough’s municipal offices, according to Highlands Administrator Tim Hill. DeBlasio also reportedly wants Highlands to hire a part-time assistant for him.
Highlands Mayor Frank Nolan questioned whether anyone would have enough time to perform six jobs effectively, and the council vote was split 3-2 in favor of hiring DeBlasio for the new position.
Last year, DeBlasio earned $244,606, according to a USA Today report – not quite twice as much as the state treasurer, who earned $141,000.
