mega_millionsSTATE – Winning tickets for last night’s $648 million Mega Millions lottery drawing were sold in California and Georgia.

The winning numbers were 8, 14, 17, 20 and 39, with the Mega Ball number 7.

Two $1 million prize-winning tickets were sold in New Jersey: one at a Krauzers in Cranford and one at a 7-Eleven in Toms River.

“It was a great run,” said Paula Otto, Virginia Lottery Executive Director and Lead Director for Mega Millions. “We have two jackpot winners, but the important programs supported by the 45 Mega Millions lotteries are the real winners. During this 22-drawing run, the lotteries generated more than $300 million in profits for those programs.”

In addition to the two jackpot-winning tickets, there were 20 $1 million winners, and a huge number of tickets won lesser prizes.

While the chance of winning a prize 1 in 14.7, the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 258,890,850 and no one had matched all five numbers plus the Megal Ball since the Oct. 1 drawing.
