Berkeley Heights Resident Wins Spirit Award At Saint Peter’s Prep

JERSEY CITY – Spirit Awards, the highest non-academic honor a student at Saint Peter’s Prep can receive, were presented to six seniors following the Thanksgiving Interfaith Prayer Service, continuing a 33-year Prep tradition of recognizing the unsung heroes of the school community.  The first Prep Spirit Awards were presented in November 1981 when the late Fr. John Browning, S.J. ’46, then principal of Saint Peter’s, began this tradition.  Among the six is Colin Carney, ’14, of Berkeley Heights, son of Melinda and Timothy Carney.  Colin is a graduate of The Academy of Our Lady of Peace School.  He was cited for his spirit, commitment, and passion for Prep and service to others.  Pictured, left to right, are Jim DeAngelo, ’85, Principal, Colin Carney, ’14, Rev. Ken Boller, SJ, President, and Anthony Locricchio, ’93, Dean of Student Life. (Photo courtesy of Saint Peter’s Prep)
