With No Winner Friday, Mega Millions Jackpot Soars To $550 Million

mega_millionsTRENTON – Tuesday night’s Mega Millions jackpot could be worth as much as $550 million to the winner, the second largest in the game’s history.

No one has matched all five numbers and the gold Mega Ball since Oct. 1, when a single winning ticket was sold in Maryland. The winning numbers for Dec. 13 were:  19, 24, 26, 27 and 70, and the Gold Mega Ball number was 12. The Megaplier number was 2.

One New Jersey retailer – Gibby’s Village Tobacco in Berlin, Camden County – sold a second prize-winning ticket worth $1 million. It was one of nine throughout the nation.

The record Mega Millions jackpot of $656 million was split among ticket holders in Illinois, Kansas and Maryland last March.

Tuesday night’s jackpot will be worth at least $550 million if paid out over 30 years as an annuity. The prize winner would receive one immediate payment and 29 annual payments, each five percent larger than the previous one. If the winner selects the cash option instead, the jackpot is worth $295.3 million.

Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing will be held at 11 p.m. Live lottery drawings are shown on the New Jersey Lottery’s website, NJLottery.net.

Mega Millions tickets are sold in 43 states as well as the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 258,890,850. The overall chances of winning a prize are 1 in 14.7.
