police-tape-200x67LINDEN – Police are investigating a report of shots fired on the 1200 block of Union Street on Wednesday afternoon.

Witnesses told police that a small red car, possibly a Chevrolet Cavalier or Geo, drove slowly down the street, allowing the passenger to fire about three shots at a man walking down the street. The man ran away and the car backed down the street to Cranford Avenue, where it turned left and headed towards East St. Georges Avenue.

Police were unable to locate the vehicle nor the man who was the gunman’s apparent target. Officers did recover some evidence from a parked Toyota Camry with two bullet holes.

Police are asking any witnesses to the event, or anyone with information, to call the Detective Bureau at 908-474-8537 or email crimetips@police.lindenes-nj.org.
