CLARK — The Arthur L. Johnson High School Bowling Team took first place in the Warren Wheeler Tournament run by Westfield High School this weekend. Coach Zaleski said, “The team showed up today with all intentions on winning it all and that they did!”
Johnson immediately jumped out into a comfortable lead in the first game when each team member had a 211 or higher game for a total of 1175 pins. The team remained focused and strong through the second and third games maintaining their first place lead even as the lane conditions were ever changing. The final pin fall count was 3370 pins, only 39 pins behind the tournament record, but establishing a new Johnson team record.
In addition to the team honors, individual players were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments. Steven Kotowski took second place honors for his 267 High Game and first place for high series with a 761. Bobby Weisensee received third place high series with his 730.
