Friday's Mega Millions jackpot could be worth $400 million to the winnerTRENTON – Someone could win as much as $400 million in tonight’s Mega Millions drawing. The estimated jackpot is the second largest in the game’s history.

No one has matched all five numbers and the gold Mega Ball since Oct. 1, when a single winning ticket was sold in Maryland. The winning numbers for Dec. 10 were:  05, 12, 22, 41 and 65, and the Gold Mega Ball number was 13. The Megaplier number was 2.

A $1 million second prize-winning ticket was sold at an Ocean County Shop Rite, and seven $5,000 third prize-winning tickets were purchased in New Jersey, including one Pied Piper Liquors in Linden.

The record Mega Millions jackpot of $656 million was split among ticket holders in Illinois, Kansas and Maryland last March.

Tonight’s jackpot is worth an estimated $400 million if paid out over 30 years as an annuity. The prize winner would receive one immediate payment and 29 annual payments, each five percent larger than the previous one. If the winner selects the cash option instead, the jackpot is worth $216 million.

Tonight’s Mega Millions drawing will be held at 11 p.m. Live lottery drawings are shown on the New Jersey Lottery’s website, NJLottery.net.

Mega Millions tickets are sold in 43 states as well as the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 258,890,850. The overall chances of winning a prize are 1 in 14.7.
