FORDS – Mrs. Kelly’s Prek4 and Mrs. Horniacek’s Prek3 classes at Our Lady Of Peace School in Fords enjoyed a visit from “St. Nicholas” on Friday, Dec. 6.

St. Nick left a surprise of chocolate coins in the children’s shoes on his feast day. After reading a story to the classes, St. Nick blessed candy canes and passed them out to the children. (Our Lady Peace Parochial Vicar Fr. Edmund Luciano portrayed the saint.) Principal Fran Comiskey also attended this very special visit.

Saint Nicholas was a 4th century Greek bishop who developed a reputation for generosity and secret gift-giving. Over the centuries, the stories of Saint Nicholas are thought to have merged with tales of other religious and cultural figures, eventually creating our modern idea of Santa Claus.
