Authorities Continue Investigation Into Fatal Shooting Outside Rahway Nightclub

RAHWAY – Authorities are still investigating last month’s death of a 27-year-old Newark man outside a Rahway nightclub. Union County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case.

Shortly after 3:05 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10, officers responding to a report of shots fired in the area of the Breathless nightclub on Hart Street found Jorge Torres, the victim of a gunshot wound, in a vehicle parked outside the bar’s entrance, according to Homicide Task Force Supervisor Michael Henn. Torres was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation determined that multiple fights broke out in the Breathless parking lot around closing time, after which gunshots were heard.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the death of Mr. Torres, or anyone who was at the Breathless nightclub Saturday night, Nov. 9 into early Sunday morning, Nov. 10, to contact Union County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Andrew M. Dellaquila at 973-274-5771, or  Union County Crime Stoppers at 908-654-TIPS (8477), or via text message by texting “UCTIP” and a message to 274637 (CRIMES).
