Union YM-YWHA Offers AARP “55 Alive” Driving Class

calendarUNION — The YM-YWHA of Union County will offer the AARP “55 Alive” driving program on Monday, Dec. 16 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The program, open to anyone over age 50 who wishes to improve their driving skills or qualify for a discount of up to 5 percent on their auto insurance, has a registration fee of $14, or $12 for AARP members. Anyone who completes the program may also have two points removed from their driving record by the state Motor Vehicle Commission.

Developed by AARP, “55 Alive / Mature Driving” is the first comprehensive driver retraining course geared toward the specific needs of older motorists. The course material covers the effects of aging and medications on driving, basic driving rules, license renewal, local traffic hazards, adverse road conditions, energy saving and accident prevention measures.
