Remembering the Past by Diane Norek Harrisonby Diane Norek Harrison

My column has helped many people obtain information from the past, but I am not always successful in achieving some requests. Here is a repeat of past information that people have asked me to ask you, the reader, for in 2013.

EDISON-I have had someone ask me for pictures of Mirror Lake, which I do not have. Another asked for written material or firsthand information from when his brother, Donald Zilch worked as a lifeguard at Mirror Lake in 1953. He heard his brother saved a life that summer there and was hoping someone could confirm this.

ELIZABETH-A  reader asked for pictures of the St. Anthony’s Drum Corp. from the 1950s. Another reader asked for old photos of Elizabeth Ave. when her father’s business, Olsen’s Radio Service, was there.

HILLSIDE-I had a request for a photo of Jack & Loretta’s Salon that was on No. Broad St.

WOODBRIDGE-R.A. Barth asked for old photos of his father, Louis M. Barth, from when he played football with the Woodbridge Golden Bears. Also any written material with Mr. Louis M. Barth’s name on it.

Please send me anything you may have pertaining to this column to pass along to those who asked for this information. Some of what you send me could also appear in my column unless it contains personal information. Email me at dianenorekharrison@verizon.net or send copies of your material to me c/o CMD Media, 1139 East Jersey St., Suite 503, Elizabeth NJ 07201
