Springfield Public Library Announces Adult Programs For December

calendarSPRINGFIELD — The Springfield Free Public Library’s adult department has announced its upcoming programs for December. All are free and open to the public. BOOK DISCUSSIONS

  • Thursday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. – The (Really Good) Book Discussion Group presents a visit by the author Lauren Grodstein to discuss her book A Friend of the Family.
  • Thursday, Dec. 19 at 10 a.m. – The Great Books Discussion Group will discuss The Misanthrope by Moliere.

FILMS

  • Monday, Dec. 9 at 1 p.m. – The Lunchtime Film Series presents the second film in the “VINCENT MINELLI RETROSPECTIVE” series. Funding is made possible in part by the NJ Council on the Arts, Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, through a grant administered by the Union County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs, and by the Friends of the Springfield Public Library. 
  • Thursday, Dec. 12 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. – The International Film Festival presents THE MATCHMAKER (Israel, 2010). Funding for the film is made possible in part by the NJ Council on the Arts, Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, through a grant administered by the Union County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs, and by the Friends of the Springfield Public Library. 
  • Monday , Dec. 23 at 1 p.m. – The Lunchtime Film Series presents the third and final film in the “VINCENT MINELLI RETROSPECTIVE” series. COMPUTER TRAINING
The Library will continue its computer training program on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, by appointment. Sign up for an individual half-hour lesson on basic computing skills. Stop by the Reference Desk or call (973) 376-4930 X228.

SCRABBLE AND CHESS
Scrabble night continues – Monday evenings at 7 pm. Bring a friend or meet new opponents. Chess for adults is on Thursday night at 7 pm.

KNITTING GROUP
The KNIT WITS group meets in the Library on the second and fourth Monday of the month at 10 am.

MEMOIR GROUP
The Memoir Group meets in the Library on the second and fourth Thursday of the month.
